Highly-acclaimed Scottish baritone Andrew McTaggart headlines McOpera’s opening concert of the 2014/15 season, in a diverse programme of quintets and arias. Alongside much-loved offerings from Handel and Mozart, the McOpera Ensemble explores a range of 20th century chamber music from both sides of the Atlantic: Barber’s evocative setting of Matthew Arnold’s poem Dover Beach is sandwiched between the triflingly humorous Serenata in Vano by Carl Nielsen, and Franz Hasenöhrl’s astonishingly virtuosic adaptation of Strauss’ large-scale tone poem, Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche.
